Hildale City Planning and Zoning Meeting – Cancelled

NOTICE

In an effort to reduce the exposure of both the public and our staff to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Hildale City will follow a recent federal recommendation which advises against gatherings of more than 10 people. The Hildale City Planning and Zoning meeting scheduled for March 19, 2020 is cancelled until further notice.

Hildale City Press Release

Hello Hildale City Residents,

I want to ensure Hildale City residents have as much information as possible as public health officials handle the potential effects of COVID-19, or the Corona Virus.

While there is a lot of uncertainty as national and state reports unfold, it is important that you know Hildale City Administration, City Personnel, and the Hildale City Council stand ready to take measures necessary to protect and serve the public. We do not anticipate any disruption in municipal services

State public health officials believe that it has not yet widely spread in Utah; and the best practice to implement preventive measures. As recommended by public health officials, please take the following prevention steps:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is experiencing flu-like symptoms
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw the tissue away or use your elbow. (Do not cover your mouth with your hand)
  • Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes
  • If you are experiencing symptoms, stay home
  • We recommend and encourage residents to practice social distancing to reduce the potential spreading of the virus
  • We recommend and encourage residents to opt out of attending large mass gatherings of more than 100 people.

It is critically important that residents use 9-1-1 for emergencies only. If you develop a cough, fever, or difficulty breathing and have traveled recently with a widespread outbreak of COVID-19, you should consult the CDC’s guidance for travelers, which is regularly updated as the situation changes. Likewise, you are encouraged to reach out to your primary care provider or local clinic directly.

If you have questions about COVID-19 the Utah Department of Health has established a hotline at 1-800-456-7707 and has information on their website coronavirus.utah.gov.

We can assure you that we will continue to respond to your emergencies and continue daily operations for our residents and businesses. Hildale City is committed to the community and response during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Respectfully yours,

Mayor Donia Jessop

Where Can I learn more about COVID-19?

https://coronavirus.utah.gov/

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Question:

Should I be worried about the Corona Virus?

Answer:

Please remember that most people that contract the COVID-19 are completely fine. However, those who are older or very young are at higher risk if the contract COVID-19.  The primary risk with COVID-19 is that it will spread too fast and overwhelm health care capacity. Slowing the spread of COVID-19 (by taking the recommended steps) can ensure that each patient gets the medical care that they need.

Question:

Why take preventive measures?

Answer:

By slowing down the spread of the COVID-19, it ensures that the health care institutions are not overwhelmed. This ensures that each patient gets the health care that is needed.

Question:

Why are so few people being tested?

Answer:

The federal government is putting in measures right now to get a high quantity of tests to state health professionals.

Intermountain Health Care will have two drive up testing locations in Utah. More information to follow.

Question:

What should I do if I have flue-like symptoms?

Answer:

Follow the advice of the CDC which they update regularly:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/steps-when-sick.html

Question:

What effect will this have on the Washington County School District schedule?

Answer:

Below is the latest message from WCSD.
Dear Parents,

We have been notified by the Utah Department of Health and the Utah State Board of Education that all schools in Utah, including all schools in Washington County, will be dismissed beginning Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27. This dismissal will be regularly evaluated during that time and may be extended.

As a reminder, we will be on spring break, March 16-20. We will communicate any and all urgent updates to you through our District website at www.washk12.org. Please look for the RED banner at the top of the website for these updates.

In order to provide teachers with the time to prepare lessons, remote learning instruction will begin for students, in their own homes, on Wednesday, March 25. Information regarding remote teaching will be communicated to you directly from your child’s school.

Teachers will still be in school buildings, students will be learning from home.

All school and UHSAA sponsored activities, events and practices are cancelled throughout the duration of this dismissal.

We are anticipating providing grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches for students. We will be communicating times for students to come to designated sites during the dismissal to receive these meals. Because Washington County School District will be on spring break March 16-20, grab-and-go meals will begin on Monday, March 23.

In addition, kindergarten registration has been postponed until further notice.

Thank you for your support throughout this process.
