July 13th, 2020 Update Q/A and Requests for Information:

Question: It does not seem realistic to make “as to appear as if garage doors never existed,” because the stucco is aged and would be difficult to match.

Answer: The outside of the building needs to be matched in color and texture. It does not have to look the exam the same.

Question: The door provided is not in good condition and it is taller than the roofline making installing the door difficult if not impossible. Further, getting a door like the one provided would be very costly and take months to get in stock. Can the City change their requirements or extend the completion date?

Answer: The RFQ states:
“Task: Insert a double-door entry system on the front of the building.
End State: Doors will need to look professional, operate flawlessly, and have a working lock system.”  The City is not willing to change the requirements or the timeline.

Question: Getting a door like the one the City provided would be extremely expensive. What are the specifications the City is looking for?

Answer: This will be left fairly vague to ensure the City gets the best deal possible; however, the guidance is the door needs to look commercial and professional.

Contractors interested in providing a quote for this project should provide the following documents:

  1. Current Business License
  2. Current Contractor License
  3. Itemized Quote on Official Letterhead

General Description:

This Request for Quote is issued by the City of Hildale, Utah to obtain quotes for construction services for the building located at 985 N Box Elder Street (HD-SHCR-5-1). The successful Contractor shall perform the required work at the time and place designated by John Barlow, Hildale City Manager. All work shall be completed within 30 days of the start date indicated in the Notice to Proceed.

Contractors shall submit all-inclusive quote for a turnkey job as described in the Scope of Work. All Contractors shall be properly licensed.

 

All quotes must be received by July 10th, 2020, no later than 5:00 PM.  Award shall be made based on the Total Base Quote. Questions regarding this request for quote must be directed to John Barlow, via telephone at (801) 824-4232, or email: manager@hildalecity.com, by July 10th, 2020, no later than 2:00 PM. All questions that are pertinent to the project will be answered in the form of an addendum which will be placed on Hildale City’s website: Hildalecity.com

The purpose of the construction is to bring the building into compliance with the fire code. Required improvements are; 1) add fire egress to second floor, 2) add front door, 3) finish interior in manner that meets fire code.

 

Contractor Requirements:

Must be licensed and insured.
Must obtain proper construction permitting; however, City fees will be waived.

 

Scope of Work:

 

 

Fire Egress
Task: Construct metal stairs on the outside of building for fire egress. Construct access to stairs on second floor.
End State: This should result in an emergency exit from the second floor in the most functional and esthetic way within project budget.


Add Front Door
Task: Insert a double-door entry system on the front of the building.
End State: Doors will need to look professional, operate flawlessly, and have a working lock system.

 

Finish Garage Area
Tasks: 1) Remove garage doors and finish inside and outside of building so as to appear as if grarage doors never existed.

2) Remove entorior non-bearing wall in garage area.

3) Improve garage area up to finished office space state.
