POSITION: Planning and Zoning Administrator

JOB DUTIES: Responsible for overall administration and enforcement of Zoning
Ordinance. Work with the public answering questions on zoning matters, processing applications and issuing
zoning permits. Reviews deeds and legal descriptions and performs field and office research and/or
inspections as needed. Maintains, evaluates, and updates zoning GIS computer-based maps. Prepare
and present packets for Planning and Zoning Commission meetings. Performs special assignments as

Required: High School diploma/GED. Applicants must be at least 18 years old
and must be a U.S. Citizen. Applicants must have a clean driving and criminal record;

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree and/or Building Inspector Certificate.

Knowledge of: City, County and State codes and ordinances related to building and zoning.
Construction and construction terms as appropriate to zoning reviews. Management skills.
Familiarity with Community Planning. Experience in development of administrative processes. Any
equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

The ideal applicant must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
associate personnel, the general public, County departments, and agencies (written and oral) and
deal tactfully and diplomatically in adverse situations. Make accurate and detailed observations.
Secure facts, document information, evaluate data and draw valid conclusions. Efficiently organize
workload and schedule. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records. Work Independently.

INITIAL PAY RATE: $35,000- $50,000 Depending on experience and qualifications.
